The warp and weft of an idea

To an “ideal city” of the Renaissance period, revisited in the spirit of a work by Muzio, Portaluppi or Ponti, a multicoloured bird brings life and a serene atmosphere of magic. The cypress trees, fantastic creatures and metaphysical shapes designed by Icinori recompose the worlds of illustration and architecture. The special screen-printing technique combines savoir-faire and creativity: after carefully stretching the fabric, the craftsman transfers the drawing onto the linen ground, by applying ten different screens, one by one – each one of which is dedicated to a single colour – according to a precise sequence. Pigments of various types, ranging from matt to metallic, are placed side by side or superimposed, applied to the textile ground in the carefully gauged quantities only an expert hand can achieve, to compose the image that slowly and gradually takes shape.
