The warp and weft of an idea

The magical appeal of luminosity defines shapes and traces architectural volumes. The Icinori duo of illustrators present their ideal city. Enigmatically subtle, the clean-cut geometric lines of a densely packed pattern are illuminated in different ways, according to the colour variant of Altronde, to evoke the delicate transformation of light at various times of the day. The artisanal screen-printing techniques transfers the design onto a pure linen ground thanks to a process requiring both skill and patience: after carefully stretching the fabric, the craftsman applies the various screens, one by one – each one dedicated to a single colour – according to a precise sequence. Pigments of various types, ranging from matt to metallic, are placed side by side or superimposed, applied to the textile ground in the carefully gauged quantities only an expert hand can achieve, to compose the image that slowly and gradually takes shape.
