Cinema Teatro Manzoni, Milan

The Cinema Teatro Manzoni embodies the lively and glamorous atmosphere of Milan in the 1950s – evoking the cultural and social spirit of the decade. An architectural masterwork by Alziro Bergonzo, suspended between neo-classical inspiration and modernism, the cinema is also home to many individual pieces of art. It is here where the new collection reveals itself – using the arcane language of raw silk curtains to convey the essence of handcrafted fabrics which speak to Gino Oliva’s bas reliefs. A shared vocabulary emerges, made of the finest materials and exquisite detailing. Jacquard patterns pointing towards the East and designs that play with geometric lines, recalling the soft shapes of cinema frescos and bronze sculptures. Framed by the backdrop of the polychromatic marble floor, the richly textured fabrics pay homage to the irregularity of natural materials. Merging art and design with Milanese charm and faraway worlds, resulting in an alluring dialogue among connected forms of beauty.
